Ten Books I’m Reading To My Kindergartener This Year

I haven’t done a Top Ten Tuesday in a while! I just had to jump on this one as I’ve had more time thanks to Loki going back to school. I’m so insanely thankful for this school year. For my ‘Back to School Freebie’ I’m going with the top ten books I plan on reading my kindergartener this school year!

Reading is a huge part of our household, as it should be. When we first started reading to him, it was a single picture book a night. By the time he was three he would beg for two or more books a night. I’m extremely happy to say we’ve moved to chapter books this summer. We finished the first five books in the Captian Underpants series after he saw the movies. Now, we’re moving onto some classics before finishing the series!

The BFG by Roald Dahl
I’m cheating a bit with this one as we’re on chapter 6 right now. So far, he is in love and I’m glad we decided to read it first.

Odd and the Frost Giant by Neil Gaiman
I love Gaiman and I feel like my son would love this one as well.

Because of Winn Dixie by Kate DiCamillo
This was one of my favorite books when I was little. I’m hoping to pass that love on to my son.

The Witches by Roald Dahl
My son is really looking forward to reading this one. He loves Witches haha

The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary
I scored this at goodwill for 50¢ and it’s a favorite of my husbands so I’m adding it to the list.

Charlotte’s Web by E.B.White
You can’t have a childhood without reading Charlotte’s Web.

Ribsy by Beverly Cleary
I haven’t read this one either, but my friend gave it to us and It looks cute!

Swiss Family Robinson by Johann Wyss
My son picked this one because a lady told him it had pirates in it. I haven’t read it, but I loved the movie.

Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter
Another classic and the book we own belonged to his grandmother.

Winnie-The-Pooh by A.A. Milne
We have tried to read this to him multiple times but he always gets bored. I’m hoping he likes it this year!

Thanks for reading my list! Have you read any of these to your child?

I’m a geek blogger, mom, a wife, and a reader. My family and I are currently living in the beautiful state of Colorado. I started my blog after I landed myself in the hospital for multiple pulmonary embolisms. It took over a year to diagnose me with lupus among other things. It’s been a long journey but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I read all genres and I write about anything I feel like; From my issues with Lupus/RA/pulmonary embolisms to what is going on in the book world. Every day is a new adventure!
