This is a world divided by blood – red or silver.

The Reds are commoners, ruled by a Silver elite in possession of god-like superpowers. And to Mare Barrow, a seventeen-year-old Red girl from the poverty-stricken Stilts, it seems like nothing will ever change.

That is, until she finds herself working in the Silver Palace. Here, surrounded by the people she hates the most, Mare discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy the balance of power.

Fearful of Mare’s potential, the Silvers hide her in plain view, declaring her a long-lost Silver princess, now engaged to a Silver prince. Despite knowing that one misstep would mean her death, Mare works silently to help the Red Guard, a militant resistance group, and bring down the Silver regime.

But this is a world of betrayal and lies, and Mare has entered a dangerous dance – Reds against Silvers, prince against prince, and Mare against her own heart.

Have you ever had your eye on a book so long, you slowly lose your patience and give in to the temptation to read it? I wanted to read this book since it was release, but I knew I could not afford it, nor did my library have it yet. So I had to wait, a year later I learn about ebooks and how you can get them on your electronic devices. I was so excited, I got OverDrive to borrow books from the library. While searching through the books, I come across this book. I put a request on this book and had to wait for two months before I finally got it. When I sat down to read it, I was not disappointed. I spent the whole day with my nose buried in my kindle.

The plot twist left me surprised and scratching my  head. I was so sure the story line would go a totally different way. Then the book ended on a cliffhanger, my reaction was to freak out and tell my whole family about this book and then put in another request for the second book in this series. The characters in this book were so alive and they had so many different layers to their personalities. The entire time you are reading, you don’t know what is going to happen next.  I was very impressed with the amount of details and emotions that the author wrote into this story. It truly is refreshing to read a book that has the ability to make you lost within the pages, especially since I have been reading a lot of books that have left me feeling like it needed more.

I am going to put this book on my buy list for my own book shelf at home. Until then I hope you guys can get this book and enjoy it as much as I have.
