She is a woman on the run. Pain, loneliness, and terror are what she is leaving. Where she is headed doesn’t matter as long as it’s away from the hell her life has become.

Joshua Bennett is trapped in a prison of his own making by the memories of his past. Traumatized and isolated, he is a reclusive writer, living a quiet, lonely life, his only companion his dog, Bear. It is what he knows, what he has accepted to be his life.

One dark night, one huge storm and one ice patch brought them together. He finds himself with an unexpected houseguest with no memory. She wakes up a stranger to herself and the man watching her. Even more mysterious is the lack of any sort of identification with her or in her car. She is an enigma to both of them.

Trapped by the storm and isolated from the outside world, they slowly open up, learning to trust and love, until the world once again shows up, threatening the fragile peace of their newly discovered world, and tearing them apart.

There are many twists and turns as they struggle to find each other, overcoming both the mental and physical elements that keep them apart.

A story about overcoming our fears, finding love and learning to live again.

I found this audiobook when I was browsing for something new to listen to and I’m glad I did find it! This story is full of suspense and romance! My favorite characters are Joshua and his dog! His dog is so loyal and sweet and trained well and it made me smile every time he would tell the dog to do something and it would! I’m a sucker for cute animals!

There is abuse in this story for anyone who doesn’t like reading that kind of stuff. I hated reading about the abuse that was in this story but at the same time it’s an eye-opener. People forget that physical abuse is such a big problem. The story felt so real and felt like a friend was telling me about all the bad things that happened to her. It was emotional and so painful, I just wanted to jump in the book and save Rabbit myself.  I kept trying to predict everything that would happen before it did and none of the things my imagination came up with actually happened! I loved that it wasn’t predictable at all!

The romance in this story was just beautiful and of course, it was a happy ending. Which I’m also a sucker for a good love story. I rarely find a romance story that I don’t like. I did put this author on my list to find more of her books to read in the future. This is definitely an adult book because of some of the scenes in there. All around I’d say this was a good read for me. I give it 5/5 stars.
