Boho Book Club: Resist the Machine by C.D. Verhoff: Week 1

Welcome to the first week in our second book club! As most of you know we will be reading Resist the Machine by C.D. Verhoff. We’ve had a few delays this week, but our month is still on! I had read this book a few years ago and loved it. When the author messaged me I knew it would be the perfect pick for our book this month. While these past two months I’ve picked the book, I’m doing the video tonight for this week and our drawing for next month! If you want to watch, it’ll be on my facebook page at 730PM MT.

I would also like to thank these bloggers for being part of the Boho Book Club this Month!

If you made a blog post this week, post it here!

While it looks like it runs smoothly on the outside, it’s clearly a mess. With so much engineering and little freedom, it doesn’t represent my ideas of a perfect nation. As with Animal Farm by George Orwell, not all Avants are equal. It’s obvious whether you look at the grunts or consider the algorithm. The algorithm is almost the complete opposite of my beliefs as someone with a chronic illness. If the government decided my fate, I’m sure I wouldn’t be alive anymore. When it comes to the defectives, I don’t think they make it due to this. If they won’t save people do to the cost of their life, why would they spare someone that wasn’t a prime ‘cog’. As no one has seen the colony I’m sure it isn’t a thing and if it is, I wouldn’t want to be there.

This month’s giveaway will be signed copies of the 1st and 2nd book in the Avant series AND a month of Owl Crate!

I’m a geek blogger, mom, a wife, and a reader. My family and I are currently living in the beautiful state of Colorado. I started my blog after I landed myself in the hospital for multiple pulmonary embolisms. It took over a year to diagnose me with lupus among other things. It’s been a long journey but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I read all genres and I write about anything I feel like; From my issues with Lupus/RA/pulmonary embolisms to what is going on in the book world. Every day is a new adventure!

  1. “The algorithm is almost the complete opposite of my beliefs as someone with a chronic illness.”

I bet you do see this differently than I do. It’s almost surreal when trying to approach like this from your eyes.

  2. I have to agree that the society is a mess. They have been using this method for a long time, and still can’t get it right. I also don’t like the algorithm. It takes the humanity out of everything and it is disturbing. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on next weeks reading!
